With their cute baby doll faces and luxurious coats, Malt-A-Poos has been a very popular puppy at our store since we opened in 1999.  When they are available they don’t stay at the store very long.  The popularity of this Designer Dog is very good and Malt-A-Poos are the Number Five selling Designer Dog at Utica Pet Supply LLC www.uticapet.com.

As you would guess Malt-A-Poos are a Designer Dog bred from a Pure Breed Maltese and a Pure Breed Toy Poodle.  Some breeders today will use a variety of sizes with regards to the Poodle.

Malt-A-Poos make good family pets and offer a lot of qualities that buyers are looking for.  Malt-A-Poos are a non-shedding dog.

As with most Designer Dogs that originate from Poodle cross breeding most people consider Malt-A-Poos to be a hypoallergenic dog.

When considering the parents size of Malt-A-Poos the Maltese will normally be less than 7 pounds, 4-6 pounds is the norm and the Toy Poodle will normally be less than 8 pounds, 4-8 pounds is the norm.  The resulting size for Malt-A-Poos will normally be less than 10 pounds, so Malt-A-Poos are a Toy Designer Dog.

Playing with Malt-A-Poos when you visit us at the store is a true joy, you’ll find that this is an energetic puppy that likes to play, and it very affectionate.  So, Roxanne and I like Malt-A-Poos for families with children.

As far as training goes the Toy Poodle is one of the smartest Toy Breed Dogs and breeding it to the Maltese to produce Malt-A-Poos makes Malt-A-Poos very easy to train.

Another benefit you enjoy with the majority of Designer Dogs is great genetic health.  So on average you should experience very good longevity and can expect a life span of 12-14 years and fewer vet bills.

While a lot of family’s visit our store looking to buy a Pure Breed Maltese we often suggest Malt-A-Poos because in most cases they are a better fit for families with children.  The Malt-A-Poos size and temperament is more embracing of the activity levels that kids offer.
