Since Roxanne and I opened our family pet store, Utica Pet Supply in 1999, we have offered and sold a variety of dogs.  While we offer and sell a good selection of Purebred Dogs, the Designer Dog has established itself as a desirable family pet as well, and today we are discussing some of the more popular types of Designer Dog.

One of the reasons for the on growing popularity of the Designer Dog is the uniqueness it offers.  As the name Designer Dog implies, two Purebred Dogs are bred by design to genetically produce a variety of outcomes that are virtually unlimited.  Traits of the Designer Dog can be related to size, coat, color, temperament, as well as promoting good genetic health.

A Designer Dog that originates from cross breeding one of the parents with a Poodle, are considered by most people to be a hypoallergenic dog.

As a group, Designer Dogs will inherently have good genetic health due to cross breeding, and you can expect a life span of 11-16 years.

The CockAPoo is a Designer Dog from the breeding of an American Cocker Spaniel to a Poodle.

The Shih Tzu Poo is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Shih Tzu to the Miniature Poodle or Toy Poodle.

Yorki Poos are a Designer Dog from the breeding of the Yorkshire Terrier to the Toy Poodle.

Cav A Chons are a Designer Dog from the breeding of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to a Bichon.

Malt-A-Poos are a Designer Dog from the breeding of the Maltese to the Bichon.

The Lhas-A-Poos are a Designer Dog from the breeding of the Lhasa Apso to the Poodle.

The York-A-Tzu is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Yorkshire Terrier to a Shih Tzu.

The PekeAPoo is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Pekingese to a Poodle.

The Pom-A-Poo is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Pomeranian to a Poodle.

The Bichon Poo is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Bichon to a Poodle.

Malt-A-Tzus are a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Maltese to a Shih Tzu.

The Schnoodle is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Schnauzer to a Poodle.  In most cases the Schnauzer is a Miniature and the Poodle is Miniature also.

The Malt-A-Peke is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Maltese to a Pekingese.

The Morky is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Maltese to a Yorkie.

The Pap-A-Chon is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Papillon to a Bichon.

The GoldenDoodle is a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Golden Retriever to a Poodle.

The Lhasa Apso-Cavalier (AKA Lhas-A-Lier) is a Designer Dog from the breeding of Lhasa Apso to a Cavalier King (AKA Cavalier King Charles Spaniel).

The Snorkie is a Designer Dog from the breeding of Schnauzer (Miniature) to a Yorkie.

Shih Tzu-Poms are a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Shih Tzu to a Pomeranian.

Chin-Tzus are a Designer Dog from the breeding of two Imperial dogs, the Japanese Chin and the Shih Tzu.

Pom-A-Tzus are a Designer Dog from the breeding of a Pomeranian to a Shih Tzu.
